Integrate

We will connect existing data, tools, expertise, and services through a coherent and accessible infrastructure. This will reduce fragmentation, improve collaboration and interoperability, and make taxonomic information easier to discover, access, and reuse.

Outputs

  • It builds on pilot methods for automated tracking of taxonomic activities to deliver a fully functional, continuously updated foresight and intelligence system integrated with a policy dashboard.

  • Interoperable service platform connecting taxonomy tools, training resources, and data services.

  • Digital Taxonomic Backbone: the next-generation framework uniting modernised nomenclatural databases and the GHOST system for dark taxa.

  • Species identification AI-model piloted via SAIL and connected with DiSSCo and other RIs.

Transform

We will turn species-level information into actionable knowledge for biodiversity, climate, and health. By strengthening links between science, policy, and the private sector, we will support evidence-based decision-making, sustainable business practices, and the effective implementation of biodiversity policies and regulations.

Outputs

  • Code of Conduct & GEI framework ensuring ethical, inclusive, and socio-economically recognised taxonomy practices.

  • High-level knowledge exchange platform engaging national agencies, EU services and observations and restoration practitioners.

  • EU-wide collaborative forum to align taxonomy-related EU projects and amplify impact.

Upskill

To secure the taxonomic capacity needed for effective biodiversity conservation, we will equip current and future taxonomists with advanced training, digital skills, recognised qualifications, and new career pathways. In doing so, we will strengthen the taxonomic workforce and its capacity to work across disciplines and connected fields of expertise, supporting a broader range of biodiversity challenges and future needs.

Outputs

  • Training infrastructure for integrative taxonomy, European certification and Taxonomists4Future programme.

  • Global visibility and advocacy via the Taxonomy Cluster, Recognition Day, and Ambassadors programmes.

  • The Taxonomists4Future programme will pioneer Taxonomist-in-Residence placements in policy and industry, opening new career pathways. Courses will combine online and face-to-face delivery with repositories, assessments, and guidance.

Demonstrate

Through cascade funding, we will test and validate innovative tools, workflows, and training approaches across priority areas such as dark taxa, climate-indicator taxa, invasive species, and underrepresented taxa and regions, generating evidence and practical solutions that can be adopted and scaled across Europe.

Outputs

  • Satellite projects are third-party projects funded by TETTRIX to strengthen taxonomic capacity across Europe. They focus on testing new tools and methods, addressing underrepresented taxa and ecosystems, and expanding training and participation. Through two calls, they aim to improve taxonomic expertise, support priority areas, and contribute results to TETTRIX’s Marketplace and training infrastructure.

  • Validated tools, workflows, and training courses are systematically embedded in Marketplace and Academy and exploited and endorsed through the taxonomic community around CETAF and other relevant sister communities (ERGA, iBOL, ECSA).
