TETTRIX joins this year’s COP17 for collective biodiversity action

From 19 to 30 October, the TETTRIX project is taking part in the Seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) in Yerevan, Armenia. COP17 brings together representatives of governments from around the world, international organizations, the scientific community, civil society, Indigenous Peoples, youth, and the private sector to assess collective progress, strengthen cooperation, and accelerate action toward achieving the global biodiversity goals by 2030.

On 27th October between 13:00 - 15:00 (AMT), TETTRIX will host a booth session, presented by representatives from our coordinating organisation CETAF - Consortium of European Taxonomic Facilities on the topic of “Taxonomy in Action: From TETTRIs to TETTRIX for GBF Delivery”. This open session will take place in the Blue Zone – the official negotiating space of COP17 where Parties, observers, and experts advance the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. More specifically, we will be present at the Science4Biodiversity booth, hosted by the five initiatives CO-OP4CBD, Biodiversa+, NetworkNature EU, RESPIN project, and BioAgora project. The session will provide knowledge on the background of the TETTRIX project, how we move on from the preceding TETTRIs project, and the objectives we are aiming to achieve in the next four years.

Our coordinators from CETAF are also collaborating with other biodiversity initiatives, partnering in TETTRIX, such as Naturalis Biodiversity Center and Senckenberg Nature Research,  to represent and discuss taxonomic and genomic data developments. You can join their joint open session on the topic of “Natural Science Collections: ensuring data quality” on 29 October from 16:30 to 17:45 (AMT) at the IUCN booth, also positioned in the Blue Zone.

During the whole event, you can reach out to our TETTRIX representatives, who will be present at the EU Science4Biodiversity booth to answer all your questions and tell you more about the TETTRIX vision for taxonomy and biodiversity.

With our participation in COP17, we hope to become part of the collective action towards making biodiversity knowledge easier to find, share and use for nature. Learn more about the TETTRIX project and how we aim to achieve our ambitions on our website.
